Visit to Jean in Taos

Created by Clara 12 years ago
I flew from Dayton Ohio to Albequerque to spend 6 days with Jean, my older sister. I arrived late, drove through miles of mountainous curvy roads after dark, & pulled in around midnight. We hugged, and renewed the bond that only sisters can have. We shared time, reminiscing, singing with Clara, playing with cats & kittens. I helped by doing laundry, hand-washing dishes, watering oodles of indoor & outdoor plants, shopping for fresh bread and fruit. We ate a delicious lunch at a nearby Middle-Eastern restaurant; Jean indulged in an extra order of felafels. We danced in her friend's back yard, Chi-gong to help her forget her pain. She squeezed fresh juice for its nutritional boost. We visited a horse farm where she planned to volunteer her time & hoped to ride. Jean's spirits and energy struggled to stay upbeat; she rested when she needed to recharge. I felt comforted yet helpless, and flew home knowing I would likely not see Jean alive ever again. Lots of love from sister Karen
