The Dance

Towards the end of my middle school adventuring, my mom discovered the Taos dance community and a section of which became Taos Free Form Dance. While I still lived with her, we would make our weekly trek over to the local dance studio and join other wandering souls in a journey of movement, music, and intention. I could see how much she thrived on these experiences and how much it filled her senses to be able to move, freely, acknowledging the weight of the day while also guided by the rhythm of the music. The dance circle had its ups and downs, but my mom stuck through with it because she saw value in the experiences wrought from these free form dances. She gained some very fast friends who were also there as she battled breast cancer. I’m very grateful of this space and community because she found so much solace in their constant support and open arms. - Clara
